CollabDays Netherlands — Community Rules
Welcome to the CollabDays Netherlands community. We're a non-profit, volunteer-run community built around the Microsoft collaboration stack — Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, Copilot, and everything that helps people work better together. This space exists so members can learn from each other and build connections. These rules keep it useful, welcoming, and safe for everyone.
By joining and posting here, you agree to follow these rules.
1. Be respectful
Treat every member the way you'd want to be treated at a meetup or at the event itself.
- No harassment, personal attacks, insults, or threats.
- No discrimination or hateful conduct based on age, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or any other protected characteristic.
- Disagree with ideas, not with people. Critique the argument, never the human behind it.
- Assume good faith. Most people here are volunteers and enthusiasts giving their time freely.
2. Keep it on-topic and constructive
This is a community for collaboration technology and the people who work with it.
- Keep discussions relevant to Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Copilot/AI, security and governance, adoption, development, and the wider modern-workplace ecosystem — or to the community and its events.
- Help others when you can. Sharing knowledge is the whole point.
- Search before you post a question that may already be answered, and give enough context (what you tried, what failed) so people can actually help you.
- Politics, religion, and other off-topic flame-bait belong elsewhere.
3. No spam or excessive self-promotion
We welcome people sharing their blogs, sessions, tools, and projects — that's part of a healthy community. But there's a line.
- Share, don't blast. Genuine contributions (a blog post that helps, a tool you built, a session recording) are welcome. Repetitive link-dropping, affiliate spam, and "growth hacking" are not.
- No unsolicited commercial advertising. This is not a marketplace. If you want to sponsor or reach the community commercially, contact the organizers about sponsorship instead.
- Recruiting: light, relevant job posts are fine where the community allows them; aggressive or mass recruiting via DMs is not.
- A good rule of thumb: if your post is mostly about promoting you and not about helping others, reconsider it.
4. Respect privacy and consent
- Don't share other people's personal information (private messages, email addresses, phone numbers, photos) without their consent.
- Don't post screenshots of private conversations to call someone out.
- Respect the privacy choices of speakers, organizers, and members alike.
5. Post responsibly and lawfully
- No illegal content, piracy, cracked software, leaked licenses, or stolen credentials.
- No malware, exploits, or instructions intended to cause harm.
- Don't post confidential or NDA-covered material (including unreleased Microsoft information you're not allowed to share).
- Respect intellectual property and copyright. Credit sources and link back rather than copying wholesale.
6. Keep content safe for everyone
- No sexually explicit, graphic, violent, or otherwise NSFW content.
- No trolling, deliberate provocation, or bad-faith arguing.
- Keep language reasonable; this is a professional, all-ages-friendly community.
7. Be authentic
- Be yourself. No impersonating other members, speakers, organizers, Microsoft staff, or the community itself.
- One person, one account, unless an account is clearly designated for an organization or community.
- No bots or automated posting without organizer approval.
8. This is a volunteer community
CollabDays Netherlands is organized and moderated by volunteers from DIWUG and PowerAddictsNL who give their free time. Please:
- Be patient with response times.
- Be kind to moderators and organizers; they're members too.
- Channel feedback constructively rather than venting at the people keeping the lights on.
Moderation and enforcement
Moderators may remove content or take action when these rules are broken. Depending on severity and history, this can mean:
- A friendly heads-up — most issues are resolved here.
- Content removal or editing — for posts that break the rules.
- A formal warning.
- Temporary suspension.
- Permanent removal from the community — for serious or repeated violations, or anything that threatens members' safety.
Serious breaches (harassment, threats, hateful conduct, illegal content) can result in immediate removal without prior warning.
Moderator decisions are made in good faith and in the interest of the whole community. If you think a decision was wrong, you can contact the organizers calmly to discuss it.
Reporting a problem
If you see something that breaks these rules, or if you feel unsafe or harassed:
- Use the report function where available, or
- Contact a moderator or the organizers directly.
Reports are handled discreetly. You will not be penalized for reporting something in good faith.
A note on the spirit of the rules
These rules can't cover every situation. When in doubt, lean on the values behind them: be respectful, be helpful, be honest, and keep this a place people are glad to be part of. That spirit matters more than the letter.
CollabDays are non-profit, community-led events organized around the technologies that help people work together — with learning and networking as the main goals. Thanks for helping keep this community welcoming for everyone.
